How this estimate works

Federal and regional schedules are calculated independently. Income is treated as adjusted gross income before the model’s standard deductions and exemptions. Regional taxable income may differ from federal taxable income. The calculator adds those two estimates; it does not apply the highest marginal rate to your entire salary.

What is excluded?

Payroll deductions, local taxes, dependants, investment income, self-employment rules and many individual credits or deductions are excluded. This includes FICA, city/county income tax and itemized deductions. Income remaining after these taxes is not an estimate of your actual paycheque. Low-income exclusions can materially affect the result.

No state income tax on wages in 2025. Federal income tax still applies. Payroll taxes and taxes on other income or activity are outside this wage estimate.

These are continuous rate formulas. Official tax tables and whole-dollar rounding can produce small differences. Always check your own circumstances against the original rules.
